I just installed and setup php-eaccelerator, an open-source PHP accelerator which is a fork of the old MMCache I remember looking into a long time ago. I’m already honestly noticing a huge performance improvement!

I’ve also enabled MySQL query cache on my box today as well. Hopefully these changes will make my site load a little faster and not cause me any adverse affects (i.e. stale data).

I’m also thinking about setting up the WordPress plugin WP Super Cache but have yet to take the plunge. I try to keep services as “vanilla” as I can if at all possible to minimize exploits.
