I was Twittering up late last night (or very early this morning) and noticed a trending topic of #Battlefield1943. When searching it, I saw people talking about it being out, and when turning on my Xbox 360 and checking the new Arcade downloads, I was delighted to see it ready for download/purchase online.

For a good review of it, click here.

Also, for those who know me, I worked at Electronic Arts when the original game which started it all, Battlefield 1942, was being produced, and worked full time being a product tester for it. If you don’t believe me, click the image below and search for my last name. I’m listed in the credits, and still have my original copy of the game they gave us all with my name printed in the manual!

I wonder if I’ll bump into anyone I used to test with while playing the new Battlefield 1943. My gamertag is the same as what I used whilst at E.A. blasting them all “testing” multiplayer functionality and hunting for bugs. The developers, D.I.C.E. out of Sweden, would even jump in some times and I’m sure some of them will be playing on-line as well.

Battlefield 1942

I know they originally wanted destructible buildings, and to come out with an Xbox 360 version for Battlefield 1942 back then, but I guess they weren’t able to get the destructable buildings in by the time of the launch, and they had some problems getting it to run smoothly on Xbox 360 at the time as well. They figured it out for Battlefield: Bad Company and now I get to see what it would have been like on the old 1942, since 1943 has the same maps. Yeay!
