Alan Wake, an Xbox 360 exclusive, and Red Dead Redemption come out tomorrow!
I headed over to GameStop and pre-ordered both today. It’s a midnight release but I think I’ll wait until tomorrow to pick them up. I probably won’t be getting into them until the weekend anyway but I had to go just to be sure I get the pre-order extras! I want an Alan Wake T-shirt for my avatar .
Wow, the day has finally come! Today I unlocked the Forza Motorsport 3 “Solid Gold” Achievement, without a doubt one of the hardest Achievements I’ve worked on getting. This Achievement probably takes around 300 hours to get and encompasses almost 1000 races ranging from 5 to 50 minutes each giving you 80 points if your crazy enough to attempt it.
I do have to admit thought that I did use the “Hire Driver” option on probably a little less than half of the 1000 races, especially the 50 minute endurance ones, once I found out you could do it that is . I left the “Drift Lap” 5G Achievement for last since I figured it’d be fun to try to get as the final one for the full 1000G, and on previous tries for it I got pretty close to 100,000 drift points so I don’t think it’ll be too bad.
I recorded a video of the last race, last lap (1 minute), and the 80G Achievement popping up for prosperity and threw it up on YouTube. Enjoy!
I was Twittering up late last night (or very early this morning) and noticed a trending topic of #Battlefield1943. When searching it, I saw people talking about it being out, and when turning on my Xbox 360 and checking the new Arcade downloads, I was delighted to see it ready for download/purchase online.
Also, for those who know me, I worked at Electronic Arts when the original game which started it all, Battlefield 1942, was being produced, and worked full time being a product tester for it. If you don’t believe me, click the image below and search for my last name. I’m listed in the credits, and still have my original copy of the game they gave us all with my name printed in the manual!
I wonder if I’ll bump into anyone I used to test with while playing the new Battlefield 1943. My gamertag is the same as what I used whilst at E.A. blasting them all “testing” multiplayer functionality and hunting for bugs. The developers, D.I.C.E. out of Sweden, would even jump in some times and I’m sure some of them will be playing on-line as well.
When I was younger, I remember going to the local 7-11 store to play Super Street Fighter 2 and spending many hours (and many, many quarters) trying to beat the computer or the other friends that would show up lining up their quarters for a chance at the next hourly/daily/monthly champ. I got to know some cool people from it, ate a lot of junk food from 7-11, and stayed out of trouble. Too bad things like this are hard to find anymore.
Anyways, Capcom came out with an up-to-date version of the same 2 dimensional classic just this last week. Today, I unlocked all but 1 character (should be soon for that one too). Here’s some pix to prove it:
